Powerlifting Wrist Wraps in India — Competition-Grade Support for Heavy Pressing
Your bench press does not fail because your chest is weak. It fails because your wrists bend back under the bar, the load drifts behind the joint, and you lose the straight line from bar to elbow. Stiff wrist wraps fix that — they lock the joint so force travels where you want it.
NBD wrist wraps are manufactured in-house and built for lifters who bench heavy, press overhead, and want support that stays rigid for years instead of going soft in a month.
What Length Do You Need?
- 1 metre (most popular) — the powerlifting standard. Enough wrap to build real stiffness around the joint with several passes. Best for heavy bench, overhead press and competition.
- Shorter wraps — quicker on and off, lighter support. Better for general gym training and higher-rep pressing where you want mobility.
How to Wrap Your Wrists Correctly
Anchor the thumb loop, then start wrapping below the wrist joint and work upward, overlapping each pass by roughly half. Cross directly over the joint itself for two to three passes — that is where the stiffness matters. Finish above the joint and secure the velcro.
The wrap should be tight enough that you cannot flex your wrist backwards, but not so tight that your hand goes numb or changes colour. Take them off between sets. Wrist wraps are a working-set tool, not something you wear for a full session.
Wrist Wraps or Lifting Straps? They Are Not the Same Thing
This trips up a lot of lifters. Wrist wraps stabilise the wrist joint for pushing — bench, overhead press, dips. Lifting straps attach your hands to the bar for pulling — deadlifts, rows, shrugs — so grip stops being your limiting factor. They solve opposite problems. Most serious lifters own both.
What the Rulebook Actually Limits
Wrist wraps are one of the few supportive items genuinely permitted in competition, and the details are worth knowing. Under IPF rules a wrap may not exceed 1 metre in length or 8 cm in width, the covering may not extend more than 10 cm above or 2 cm below the centre of the wrist joint, and a securing loop must not remain over the thumb or fingers during the lift — that last one costs people attempts. NBD builds to those dimensional limits and states them openly; NBD is not listed on any federation's approved-equipment register and does not claim to be, so check your own federation's current rulebook before meet day.
Why NBD Wraps
- Manufactured by NBD — not rebranded imports, so quality and price stay under our control
- Rigid weave that holds up — resists the stretch and slack that makes cheap wraps useless within weeks
- Built to the dimensional limit — the 1M length sits exactly at the maximum the IPF rulebook permits
- Reinforced velcro and thumb loop — the two points where budget wraps fail first
Where a belt fits in
Wrist wraps solve a pressing problem. If your limiting factor is bracing on squats and deadlifts rather than wrist position under the bar, that is a different piece of equipment — the powerlifting lever belt range covers 10mm and 13mm in nine sizes. A bench-only lifter does not need one.
